The Italian betting federation has disqualified for 10 months the international footballer Sandro Tonali, who is also under investigation by the English Football Association for 50 times the violation of the rules.
After moving to Newcastle, Sandro Tonali played 50 games of chance
Sandro Tonali’s troubles were not over, although the FIGC banned him for ten months for illegal betting.
The English Football Association found that the Newcastle footballer between August 12 and October 12, 2023, made 50 bets in the two months after his transfer to England and before the suspension, writes Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Tonali has until April 5 to prepare his defense and respond to the charges, which could see his existing suspension extended.
An investigation by Albion FA began after the Italian ended, resulting in the Italian player being suspended until 27 August 2024.
The FA’s statement did not specify whether the midfielder had placed a bet on his team’s matches, limiting himself to the concept of “football matches”.
“We are aware of official charges against Tonali regarding alleged betting violations.
Sandro continues to cooperate with all investigations and has the full support of the club. As the investigation is ongoing, Newcastle do not intend to make any further comment,” the Newcastle club also said.
