Almost 37 years old, Lionel Messi continues to enjoy football as much as he did during his debut in La Liga. The Argentine announced that he is not thinking about retiring as long as he can perform well.

Lionel Messi and the hardest moment in his career: “It was a change I didn’t expect”

As a guest on the Big Time podcast, Lionel Messi touched on a variety of topics, from his departure from FC Barcelona to the end of his football career.

The captain of the Argentina national team claims that he would like to stay in the Catalan team, and the deal with PSG was difficult.

“The change was difficult when I arrived at PSG because I had a very good time at Barcelona and I planned to stay there.

I was not ready to go, everything happened very quickly, I had to rebuild my life day by day.

It was a change I didn’t expect and that’s why it was difficult at first,” Messi said, according to AS.com.

The midfielder also talked about retirement from football, which he sees as quite far away.

“It will happen at the moment when I can no longer perform, I can no longer enjoy football and I can no longer help my colleagues.

I’m very critical of myself, I know when I’m good and when I’m not, when I play well and when I’m bad.

When I feel it’s time to take that step, it doesn’t matter how old I am. If I feel good, I will always try to keep competing because this is what I like and what I know how to do,” said the Argentine.

In the new MLS season, Lionel Messi has three goals and one assist in three matches for Inter Miami.
