Cosmin Matei received a positive result of anti-doping control at the match between Sepsi and Craiova University

“Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe” qualified for the playoffs, having managed to win in the last stage of the regular season against “Petrol” (2-1).

The team under the care of László Diosegy got off to a bad start against FCSB (2-1) and the people of Covas received another bad news.

According to Digi Sport, Cosmin Matei (32), a player from Sfantu Gheorghe, tested positive for anti-doping at the end of the 3-1 loss to Sepsi against the University of Craiova.

According to ANAD, a substance called 5-methylhexan-2-amine, which can be found in geranium root oil, was detected in Mateja’s body and which “turns into a short-term stimulant that provides increased speed, energy and muscle tone.”

Midfielder Sepsi has not yet been suspended, but the investigation is just beginning. Then there will be a hearing, the result of the second test, and the footballer faces a disqualification of up to 4 years if it is proven that he used doping on purpose.

“I was very surprised. I am stunned! I don’t even know what to say. And I don’t even want to talk now. Please understand me! This is an ongoing investigation. I really want to know what really happened.

And where did this substance come from? During this time I caught a cold. I’ve been taking more supplements, more medication, but we’ll see what the tests show.” – said football player Sepsi, reports sportpesurse.ro.

Laszlo Diosegy, the owner of Sepsi, also reacted to this context and said that he found it difficult to believe that the player used doping on purpose.

“We also received a message at the club about two days ago. However, we are also waiting for the result of test B. I am speechless. It is not believed that Matei would willingly use prohibited substances.

It was also not possible to talk to our doctor, because it was a match with FCSB. However, he explained to me that nothing he gives contains banned substances.

I know Matei had a cold for a while. I don’t know exactly what he took. But I suggest waiting for the investigation to get clear conclusions. You also saw what happened in Aleppo. But if it is confirmed that Matei is guilty, we will take the necessary measures.” – he said.
