The player, who is ranked 71st in the world, started the game better against the home favorite and took a 2-0 lead.

Ding Junhui (world No. 9) came back to win four frames in a row, but Serity brought the crowd to their feet after he managed a 147-point break. For this performance, the Englishman will receive £5,000.

This is the 201st maximum break in snooker history. Ronnie O’Sullivan (15), John Higgins (13) and Stephen Hendry (11) achieved the most.

In the end, Ding Junhui managed to win 5-3 and will meet Liu Hongyu (19 years old, 82nd in the world) in the first round.

World Open 2024 will be held from March 18 to 24 in Yushan Sport Center (China). The tournament has a total prize pool of £815,000 and the reigning champion is Judd Trump (2019).

A semi-final appearance is rewarded with £32,500, with the finalist receiving £73,000 and the grand champion £170,000.
