Opset, 24, jumped 236 meters during training, but fell on landing and injured his face.

That didn’t stop Opseth from competing and setting a world record with his second jump.

The winner of the first stage of the World Cup among women was Erin Maria Quandal (431.2 points, after jumps of 202 and 212 meters). Opset finished second (425.2 points – 203 and 230.5 meters), and the podium was closed by Slovenian Ema Klinec (375.9 points – 197 and 203 meters).

Klinets held the previous world record, having managed to reach 226 meters at the same place a year ago.
