Entering the main draw thanks to a wild card, Emma Reducanu advanced to the third round after losing to Dayana Yastremska.
However, there followed a match with the second favorite of the competition, Aryna Sabalenko, who decided the fate of the match after one hour and 37 minutes.
The Australian Open winner absolutely dominated the first set, but in the second act Redukan was close to a tie-break.
After missing three match points, the former world leader advanced to the next round.
