
19th seed Sorana Kirstea had a short path to Indian Wells 2024, our athlete was eliminated in the second round by Sloane Stephens.
The reigning Grand Slam champion (a title she won at the US Open in 2017), the 30-year-old American dominated a match in which Sorana was far from the form she has shown this season.
Sloane (ranked 44th in the world) won the first set without a single defeat (6-0), and in the second match two effective breaks made the difference (7-5).
The game lasted an hour and 20 minutes.
