Title-chasing Liverpool and Premier League-chasing Southampton will meet in one of the most exciting FA Cup Round of 16 games ever.

Southampton qualified for the last 16 of the FA Cup after beating League Two (Division Four) 4-0 at home to Walsall in the third round before going past Championship side Watford in the last 16 (second league), after 1-1 away and 3-0 at home in a replay.

Southampton have one FA Cup trophy in their history, won in 1976 after a 1-0 draw with Manchester United in the final, and have lost three others in the final act of the competition, most recently in 2003 in a 0-1 draw with Arsenal ยป.

The two teams last met last season in the Premier League, when Liverpool beat Southampton 3-1 at home on the road, only to be held to a 4-4 draw in the second leg in a spectacular last leg.
