Cristiano Bergodi says he forgives Alexander Alba and Andrii Borza: “We are not robots”

Alba and Borza were kicked out of the squad and fined €10,000 each, but Bergodi says he would have forgiven them both. The Italian coach said that the players are training with the second team.

“About Alba and Borza. I chatted with the two of them. They knew very well that they were wrong, but we should not treat them like thugs. I know they were wrong too.

We’ll see what happens in the coming days. I too have made mistakes in the past. I put myself in their place, they were disappointed, they asked me for forgiveness. They received a fine, because it is normal.

They will train with the second team, we’ll see. I had a discussion with them. One is 30 years old, the other is 18. I would forgive everything, because you learn from mistakes.

They are ashamed of their colleagues and of me for what they have done. They were not allowed to. We are not robots, we will see in the coming days” – Cristiano Bergodiat the press conference.

After five wins in a row in 2024, Rapid unexpectedly lost 3:1 at Poli Iasi and is now 3rd in the Superliga standings (compared to CFR Cluj).
