Cristina Laszlo, the new captain of the Romanian women’s handball team
Romania will face Croatia in the 2024 European Championship qualifying tournament, and Kristina László will be the new captain of the first representative team.
“With these games, the Romanian national team has a new beginning. This is a young team, we have an average age of 24, a team with nine new players after the World Cup in Denmark.
In essence, you could say that a rebuild is starting for this new Olympic cycle, with talented players who I believe can provide this generational exchange.
These are players that I have trusted since I took over the national team, I have tried to promote as many young players as possible. (…)
This is a beautiful team that can achieve positive results, but patience is required. A strong national team is not formed overnight, it takes time, these girls need to be supported,” Agerpres quoted Florentin Pera as saying at a press conference.
Christina Laszlo: “It is a great honor for me to represent the country”
Laszlo says he is “enthusiastic and honoured” about his new role as captain of the Romanian national team.
“We have two very interesting matches against Croatia waiting for us. We want as many points as possible and hope that we, together with the employees, will rise to the level of expectations. We play with a closed house. (…)
I am excited and honored to represent the country as the captain. I think that not everyone can be in such a place, so I can be grateful and thank the staff for their trust and together with the girls I hope to form a single team, a group that will give the last drop of energy on the field and I will make sure that this spirit was in the middle of the team.
Therefore, I can only be happy and proud to represent my country in the position of captain.”– Christina Laszlo.
