Rezvan Burleanu asks Romanians to be closer to Simona Halep

After three days of hearings at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Simona Halep awaits a verdict after testing positive for Roxadustat at the 2022 US Open.

The former WTA leader is backed by several Romanian sports figures, with the latest to voice his support is the president of the Romanian Football Federation, Rezvan Burleanu.

He appealed to all Romanians, saying that Simona needs to be supported, as she was supported when she represented Romania at the highest levels of tennis.

“If it was important to you, then I think you should support it more. Because surely you were the ones who supported her in beautiful moments. And then I think that all Romanian sports should continue to support her even in these rather difficult moments.

For me personally, she remains a champion. I don’t think that we will soon have performers of her level. Therefore, Simona is going through a more difficult moment, but we want her to have the opportunity to return, and regardless of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, she will continue to play Romanian tennis. ” – said Rezvan Burleanu, as.ro reports.
