Diego Schwartzman: “If it doesn’t work out, I can look back and be more than happy”

Diego has lost 6 of his last 7 matches and is ranked 116th in the ATP rankings. After losing in three sets to Daniel Elahi Galan (6-2, 1-6, 4-6), Schwartzman thanked the fans for their support and talked about the difficult time he is going through.

“It’s hard to describe the sporting moment I’m experiencing. Weeks pass and there is no response from the field… I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea how nice it is to feel such encouragement and support as you do with me, on and off the field.

There will always be some criticism, but that’s part of the sport and you have to stand up. I was taught from a young age to keep my head up and keep trying.

With humility, hard work, education and respect, I will continue this quest. And if it doesn’t work out, I can look back and be more than happy for what I’ve achieved and for the people who have always been by my side” – Diego Schwartzman.

Diego Schwartzman has 4 titles (Istanbul 2016, Rio de Janeiro 2018, Los Cabos 2019, Buenos Aires 2021) and lost 10 more finals. He earned almost 14 million dollars on tennis prizes alone. His highest ATP ranking was #8 (October 2020).
