After winning three gold medals for Romania at the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Mihaela Cambei was named the best European weightlifter of 2023.

Mihaela Kambei, the best weightlifter in Europe

Mihaela Kambei, who is the best athlete in Europe in the Olympic qualification hierarchy (5th place in the category), followed by Kamila Konotop (Ukraine) and Emily Campbell (Great Britain).

The winner in the men’s category was Lasha Talahadze, the multiple European, world and Olympic champion from Georgia.

The selection and voting process was conducted by the European Weightlifting Federation in partnership with the European Sports Press Association (AIPS Europe), News.ro reports.

At the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Mihaela Kambei won the gold medal in the 85 kg jerk, the 49 kg event, the 109 kg throw and the 199 kg total.
