Gheorghe Yamandi died at the age of 66

Gheorghe Yamandi played for Dynamo Bucharest in the period 1983-1984, during which he played in the semi-final of the European Champions Cup against Liverpool.

He started his football career in 1978 in “Delta” Tulcea, and after only one season he moved to “Alt Skornicesti”.

In 1984, he moved to Tirgovishte, followed by CS Bacău, Petrolul Ploiești and again Delta Dulcea, from where he retired in 1989.

“Almost 40 years ago, on April 25, 1984, he scored in the 77th minute of the second leg against Liverpool in the semi-final of the European Cup. He left us too early this morning in Tulcea, he would have turned 67 in two months. May God rest in peace in the red and white shirt, Gheorghe Yamandi!” – wrote the press service of Dynamo.
