Nicholas David Ionel lost his Davis Cup match to Aristotle Thanos

Romania failed in the play-offs to remain in Davis Cup World Group I.

Nicolas David Ionel, a Romanian player ranked 265th in the ATP ranking, was defeated in three sets by Aristotle Thanos of Greece, a player ranked 1433rd in the ATP ranking.

The Romanian won the first set 6-4, but his opponent came back and turned the tide, managing to win after two hours and 19 minutes.
