Retired in early 2023, nicknamed “The Matador” died Sunday of cardiac arrest while playing in a veterans match on the outskirts of Ciudad de Panama.
The Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT) announced his death on Sunday evening.
Called up 108 times for his country, Tejada became the top scorer (43 goals) in the history of the national team, which qualified for its first World Cup in 2018, writes News.ro.
“It was a symbol of the development of football in our country. We will never forget you, Matador,” FEPAFUT said in a statement.
