What you need to know about the 2024 Australian Open final

  • Medvedev and Sinner have met nine times in the world tournament, and the score favors the Russian, 6-3.
  • However, a very important point should be noted: Yannick won the last three matches, all in 2023. In Beijing (hard), Vienna (hard indoor) and at the Tournament of Champions (hard indoor).
  • Between 2020 and 2023 (March, tournament in Miami), there were six matches in a row, all won by Medvedev.
  • For Danilo, this is the third final of the Australian Open. The Russian lost to Novak Djokovic in 2021 and Rafael Nadal in 2022 (even leading 2-0 in sets).
  • Medvedev has so far won one Grand Slam title in his career: the 2021 US Open after an emphatic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Novak Djokovic.
  • Yannick, on the other hand, is in his first career Australian Open final (the Italian’s first Grand Slam final). His best major result was a Wimbledon semifinal in 2023.
