Rohan Bopanna will climb to No. 1 in the ATP doubles rankings starting next week, a feat the Indian has achieved at the age of 43. This will make Bopanna the oldest leader in the world.

Rohan Bopanna, the ATP world leader in doubles at the age of 43

The pair of Rohan Bopanna / Matthew Ebden managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Wednesday and the result will help the pair climb to the top spot from next week.

The Indian will become the oldest player in the history of tennis, who climbed the first racket of the world.

They beat Maximo Gonzalez / Andres Molteni (favorites 6), score 6-4, 7-6(5).

The match lasted one hour and 42 minutes.

  • During his career, Rohan Bopanna reached the doubles at Grand Slam tournaments (US Open 2010, 2023) and reached five other semifinals (Australian Open 2024, Roland Garros 2022 and Wimbledon 2013, 2015, 2023).

Second seeds in Melbourne, Bopanna and Ebden will beat Thomas Machak / Zhizheng Zhang in the semi-finals.
