The victory was won in three sets, 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(5), at the end of a match that lasted two hours and 41 minutes.
Interestingly, Nagal registered only his second Grand Slam win, the other coming at the 2020 US Open against American Bradley Klahn.
The Indian’s win is all the more surprising as Bublyk has been on top form, reaching the semi-finals at ATP Adelaide last week.
On the other hand, Nagal had to go through the qualifiers to enter the singles draw in Melbourne.
