Carter started the match better, leading 6-3, but O’Sullivan staged an impressive comeback to win seven of the next eight frames.
After this tournament, Ronnie will receive a check for £250,000 and Ali Carter will receive £100,000.
Ronnie is the youngest winner in the history of the competition (19 years, in 1995), but also the oldest (48 years and 40 days, in 2024).
Ronnie O’Sullivan won The Masters a record eight times: 1995, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2024. He lost a further six finals.
For the first time in his career, Ronnie won the first two tournaments of the “Triple Crown” (British Championship, Masters and World Cup) in the same season. Only Steve Davis (1987-88), Stephen Hendry (1994-95, 1995-96) and Mark Williams (2002-03) have won the sport’s most prestigious competition in a single season.
