Sabalenko was successful in the match she led: 6-0, 6-1.

With tears in his eyes in the second set (6-0, 4-0), Seidel (18) had no chance against the second favorite from Melbourne. The German saved a double “bagel” in the last game in which she served.

Despite authoritatively dominating the match, Arina needed seven match points to close out the contest. The game lasted only 53 minutes.
