Yannick Sinner, one of the main favorites to win the Australian Open 2024, has advanced to the second round. The Italian advanced, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3, to Botik Van De Zandschulp, ranked 59th in the world.

Led by Darren Cahill, Yannick won after a match that lasted two hours and 34 minutes.

In the first two sets, the difference was one break per leg, while in the third set there were four breaks (three effective for the Italian).

In the second round, Yannick (seeded in Melbourne at number four) will meet the winner of the match between Jesper De Jong (148 ATP – came from qualification) and Pedro Cacin (72 in the world).
