The tricolors managed to make it to the quarter-finals, beating Georgia 18-11, but the path to the semi-finals was blocked by Spain.
After a controlled game from start to finish, Spain beat Romania 24-7 (6-2, 4-2, 7-1, 7-2).
In the semi-finals, Spain will meet the winner of Italy and Montenegro.
In Group D, the “tricolors” won 12-8 against the Netherlands, 13-5 against Slovenia and 8-7 against Slovakia. Thus, they finished in first place with 9 points and played in the playoffs.
The 2024 European champion also qualifies for the Olympic Games in Paris.
At the CE 2022 exhibition, Romania took 10th place.
Qualifying in the fourth parts of this year’s European Championship will bring the three-color ticket to the World Championship, which will be held on February 2-18 in Doha. Three teams from CE2024 qualify for the World Cup, and from the quarters played on Friday, five representative teams have already qualified – Spain and Italy (World Cup 2023), Hungary, Greece, Serbia (World Cup 2023).
