The University of Cluj has announced that it has acquired the services of Roger Junio ​​Rodríguez Ferreira, a footballer who won the Romanian championship with rivals CFR Cluj in the 2021/2022 season.

Roger is a new player at the University of Cluj

The Brazilian attacking midfielder (27 years old) has two championship titles of Latvia and one of Romania, as well as more than 80 matches in the Super League.

“After starting out at Brazilian club Vila Nova, and also playing for Botafogo PB, Goiânia and Atlético Goiânense in his country, Roger made the switch to European football in 2018. At the start of the 2018/2019 season, he arrived in Albania as one of the top scorers in the league.

He won his first trophies in Latvia with FC Riga, winning the championship in 2019 and 2020. He played for “Riga” for a year and a half, played 40 games, scored seven goals and five assists.

In the middle of the 2020/2021 season, the Brazilian player arrived in the Super League at UTA Arad, the club he played for for six months during the winter break last season. In the shirt of “Aradeniana”, he collected the most games, having played 69 matches, six successes and 11 decisive assists.

Rodger won the Romanian title with CFR in the 2021/2022 season, a team for which he also marked the first group matches of the European tournament, with five games in the UEFA Conference League,” states the University of Cluj.

The Transylvanian group also recently announced the signing of Talison Kelven, a centre-back who has made 99 appearances in Brazil’s top two leagues.

The University of Cluj is in 8th place in the Superliga ranking, just one point behind Sepsi and Farul (5-6 places, playoffs).
