The trials of Tara Moore (the former number one racket of Great Britain in doubles) have come to an end, after 19 months the athlete was cleared of violating anti-doping rules.

This was reported by ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) on Saturday, December 23.

The ITIA, among other things, stated that the athlete was not guilty of this violation.

The athlete was temporarily suspended in June 2022. The reason: the presence of a banned substance in a sample she provided while competing at the WTA 250 tournament in Bogotá, Colombia.

Tara Moore, pardoned by the ITIA after a 19-month ban – ate contaminated meat

According to the ITIA, Player A’s sample contained the metabolites nandrolone and boldenone.

Both substances are included in the list of prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from 2022.

Tara has always made it clear that she never knowingly uses illegal substances.

The ITIA clarified that an independent tribunal determined that the source of the banned substance was contaminated meat consumed by her and another player, Barbara Gatika from Chile, a few days before the sample was collected, News.ro reported.

“Consequently, no period of ineligibility was imposed on the players and the provisional suspensions imposed under the Tennis Anti-Doping Program were immediately lifted,” the ITIA said in a press release.

However, Gatika remains suspended from the sport for separate breaches of the tennis anti-corruption programme, the ITIA added.
