Chinese Sun Yang will not be able to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris

According to Le Figaro, the Chinese Swimming Federation announced the qualification criteria for participation in Paris, and Yang (32) will not be able to try to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

In particular, the results of the 2023 World Cup, next year’s World Cup in Doha (from February 2024) and the event that will take place in April in Shenzhen will be taken into account for qualifying for the 2024 Olympics.

Being suspended, Ian was not and will not be at the start of any of the competitions listed above. Under these conditions, Sun will miss the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

We will remind, Sun Yang is a three-time Olympic champion (in 200 m, 400 m and 1500 m freestyle).

The Chinese swimmer is disqualified until May 2024 (he received a 4-year disqualification due to a doping scandal).

At the 2012 London Olympics, Sun became the first Chinese to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.

In addition, Sun Yang (1.98 meters and 89 kg) is the only athlete in history to win gold at the Olympic Games and World Championships in each of the 200-1,500-meter freestyle events.

A three-time Olympic champion and 11-time world champion, Sun Yang is currently the most decorated Chinese swimmer in history.
