​Sorana Kirstya helped the Falcons win the match against the Hawks with a score of 27-24, our athlete won two matches in the World Tennis League, including the one against Iga Svyatek, the leader of the WTA hierarchy.

In the doubles match, Sorana Kirstya defeated Iga Svyatek

Kirstia made a great debut at the tournament in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and won the mixed doubles match, in which she beat the American Taylor Fritz: 6-2 against Hubert Hurkacz / Caroline Garcia (Poland / France).

Together with Olena Rybakina, Sorana beat the last winners of the Tournament of Champions — Igo Svyatek and Karolin Garcia — with a score of 6:4.

Kasper Ruud defeated Taylor Fritz 6-1, and Iga Sviatek won the match against Elena Rybakina 6-4, but the Kazakh took revenge in a “shoot-out” (tie-break match – the first to 9 points) and posted 10 – 8 in front of Poland.

Also on Thursday, the Kites beat the Eagles 27-22.

World Tennis League, competition schedule

December 22: Falcons vs. Kites (1 p.m.) and Eagles vs. Hawks (4 p.m.)

December 23: Eagles vs Falcons (1pm) and Kites vs Hawks (4pm)

December 24: grand final (1st place vs. 2nd place).
