Cluj University, without a win against CFR for 8 years

The University of Cluj has not beaten CFR Cluj in 8 years and Thursday’s match again showed the big difference between the two teams.

Andrea Mandorlini’s team had fun with the local rival and scored no less than 4 goals.

At the end of the game, Ioan Ovidiu Sabau was visibly disappointed with the game, but especially with the result, and told the management that they should consider changing the coach.

“What can I say, it’s very difficult now, I told the players that I’m not angry, I’ve prepared them. I looked very bad, but I also thanked them because I also played very well. Maybe now we are where we belong.

We wanted to play a good game, we dominated in all sections, physically, tactically, in one-on-ones. They motivated themselves much more, they are the main culprit, and I do not rule out and even advise the management to think about another option for the coach.

Maybe the players need another person, another coach, with other qualities. I am also thinking about such an option, I will talk to the management, but it would be good. It’s not the result that affects me, because they are a much better team, they have quality players, they are much stronger than us, but we didn’t perform well. I am the main culprit.

Why talk about tactics if we dominated in all sections. This is the difference in cost, physical training, strength. Some players are under a lot of pressure. Some are shy, afraid when they have to make a decision. They need time to mature.

I told them that I thank them, that I wish them a good rest, that I, too, had achieved something extraordinary. They have quality, I am responsible for this situation. It would be good for the management to think about a possible change of coach.
