Noppon Saengkham (Thailand, 26th in the world ranking) managed to pull off a big surprise: he defeated John Higgins 6-3 to qualify for the final of the Scottish Open Snooker Championship.

Gary Wilson became the first finalist of the Scottish Open: the Englishman beat the Chinese Yuelong Zhou with a score of 6-5.

Then it was the turn to beat Noppon Saengham (31 years old): 6-3 with multiple world champion John Higgins (the Scot won the Crucible in 1998, 2007, 2009 and 2011 editions).

  • It was played on a best-of-11 frame basis, i.e. for the first time in 6.
  • The Scottish Open final between Wilson and Sengkham will start on Sunday at 15:00 (Romanian time) and will be broadcast live on Eurosport channels.
  • The final will be played on a best-of-17 frame basis, i.e. first to 9.

The Scottis Open 2023 will be held from December 11 to 17 at the Meadowbank Sports Center in Edinburgh. The total prize pool is £427,000, with the big winner going home with a check for £80,000. Title Champion (title won in 2022) — Gary Wilson.
