German fans have announced they will boycott the first 12 minutes of every Bundesliga match this weekend, unhappy with a vote to allow foreign investors into the league.

In a press release, ultras and German fans condemned the “break of the dam” characteristic of the Bundesliga, unlike other championships.

The message remains the same: “no foreign investors” in the DFL (no German Football League).

“We are not ready to sit idly by while German football is being sold. “To make it clear that a nationally recognized twelfth player is not prepared to be used as a bargaining chip for the League’s deal with questionable investors, we will be silent for twelve minutes,” the statement read.

Banners against this agreement should also be posted.

The German Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs adopted an unprecedented initiative during the League’s general meeting.

This allows DFL to negotiate the sale of a portion of the television rights for the next 20 years to foreign investors.

A total of 24 of the 36 professional clubs voted in favor of the decision, which required a two-thirds majority (24 votes).

A previous request to strip most of the television rights was already rejected in May.

The plan approved on Monday, which still needs to be discussed and clarified, involves the sale of less than 10% of the television rights for a total of up to one billion euros, News.ro reported.
