Giorgio Chiellini has retired from football – an impressive record for a former player

In an announcement published on social networks, together with an impressive video clip, Giorgio Chiellini announced that he was parting ways with his football career.

“You were the most beautiful and fulfilling journey in my life. You were everything to me. We traveled a unique and unforgettable path with you.

But now it’s time to start new chapters, face new challenges and write other important and interesting pages of life,” the former defender announced.

After a trip to Livorno, Rome and Fiorentina, in 2004 Chiellini moved to the Turin “Juventus”, with which he connected almost his entire career.

During his 17 years at the club, he won 9 Serie A championships, 5 Italian Cups, 5 Super Cups and lost two Champions League finals.

In 2022, he signed a contract with American FC Los Angeles, with whom he won the title in his first year, but recently failed to win the second, ahead of Romanian Alexandru Matsan’s side.

In 117 selections for the Italian national team, he managed to distinguish himself eight times, winning the 2020 European Championship trophy.
