​David Popovici qualified for the 200m freestyle final at the European Short Course Swimming Championships. The best time in the semi-finals was shown by a Romanian athlete.

Davyd Popovichi, a chance for a medal in the 200 m freestyle

David Popovici qualified for the 200m freestyle final at the European Short Course Championships in Otopeni on Friday.

The athlete, registered at CS Dinamo Bucharest, showed the best time in the semi-finals, managing to stop the clock at 1:42.04.

James Guy also qualified for the final with a second time (1:42.66), while Matthew Richards (1:42.70) completed the podium.

He will fight for the gold medal on Saturday, from 18.06.

Romania will host the 22nd European Junior Short Course Championships from 5 to 10 December 2023 at the Otopeni Sports Complex.
