
Raúl Jurado Calvo, a 19-year-old futsal player, died after taking a heavy blow to the head during contact with an opponent during a CFS El Atico de Sabadell (Catalan third division) match.
Raul died in hospital on Monday, despite the quick intervention of those present at the scene and the emergency services.
According to his club and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the player’s death has caused great emotion in the region (Tuesday has been declared a day of mourning in Sabadell) and across the country.
