Rafael Nadal is convinced that he needs some time after his return: “Everything will go wrong at first”
Injured at the 2023 Australian Open, the Spaniard underwent hip surgery in June and missed all major events for the remainder of the year.
“I was afraid to announce the return because it was a year without competition, but the biggest concern for me is not the hip.
I think I’m ready and hopefully everything will go well and I’ll be able to enjoy the pitch again.
I hope to feel that excitement, those nerves, those fears and doubts again. I hope I don’t have high expectations.
Having the ability to not ask for everything I’ve asked for throughout my career. This is a new era and different circumstances.
I’ve pushed myself to the limit all my life, and I hope I won’t do it again. I have to take my time and work on what will go wrong early on, which is very likely.
But I know that things will change in the not-too-distant future if I keep my enthusiasm, my work ethic and my physicality to help me.” – announced Rafael Nadalfor Brand.
