
On Saturday, Olena Zacharia became the vice-champion of the world in the singles final among women under 19 at the World Junior Table Tennis Championship in Nova Gorica (Slovenia).
Romania, four medals at the World Junior Table Tennis Championships
After four consecutive victories on the board, Olena Zakharia was defeated in the final by the Chinese woman Kuai Man with a score of 4-0 (11-3, 13-11, 11-5, 11-5).
Also on Sunday, Eduard Ionescu won the men’s singles bronze medal after losing to Wen Juibo in the semifinals. The Chinese won 4-2 (5-11, 18-20, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7).
Romania also won two bronze medals in Nova Gorica: the women’s team (Olena Zacharia, Ioana Singeorzan, Bianca May-Rochu and Alesia Sferlea) and the men’s team (Darius Movilianu, Eduard Ionescu, Andrej Istrate and Dragos Buyor).
