Erik ten Heg: “I’m guilty, but I’m very happy with the style of the team”

United have conceded 14 goals in the Champions League this season (only Antwerp have conceded more – 15) and are bottom of Group A.

Coach Erik ten Heg said he was to blame for his team’s wasted lead and was confident the issue would be resolved in the future.

“I’m always to blame. I am responsible for it, but I also know that we have a project. We are in the right direction, so I know where we are going and what steps we need to take, and I am confident that we will be successful in the long term.

If we want to stay in the Champions League, we have to win the next match. We’ll figure it out (no defense issues) but I’m very pleased, you can see the style of the team. Initiative, dynamic, brave, I said so, I am very satisfied with the performance” – Eric Ten Haag for TNT Sports.

In Istanbul, Manchester United scored from Garnacho (’11), Fernandes (’18) and Maktominay (’55), while Galatasaray scored from Ziec (’29, ’62) and Akturkoglu (’71).

Manchester United must win against Bayern Munich (December 12) to be in with a chance of reaching the Round of 16 (also dependent on the result of the Copenhagen-Galatasaray match).
