In Sunday’s final, Northern Ireland’s Allen broke 137 points (and five others over 50 points), while England’s Trump only looked like he might trouble him in the second frame when he broke 123 points.

Mark Allen (#4 in the world) will receive £150,000 for a win at Bolton University Stadium, while Judd Trump (#2) will receive £60,000.

Allen was the player of the season in 2022/23 (he won three ranking tournaments), but has not started the current campaign very well. He dedicated the victory to Joe Shortt (his former coach), who died this year.

“That’s why we play, to play in front of such an audience and in front of the best players in the world. Good thing I beat him, but I know he’ll be back.

I would tell you what I think about the start of the season, but it was bad. We’re a little lost, Joe Short is no longer with us. My father and I lost one of our closest friends.

To win a tournament of this level, to win this title means a lot and I think I’m in shape. I have worked so hard to improve my level of play. Coming here and feeling in shape is more important than anything else” – Mark Allen.

Mark Allen won the Champion of Champions tournament in 2020 and 2023. Only Ronnie O’Sullivan (2013, 2014, 2018, 2022) and Neil Robertson (2015, 2019) have won the competition at least twice.

Mark Allen’s path to Champion of Champions 2023:

4-1 with Jimmy White (#124)

6-2 with John Higgins (11th)

6-2 with Ali Carter (10th)

10-3 with Judd Trump (2nd).

The Champion of Champions was held from 13th to 19th November at Bolton University Stadium, with a total prize pool of £440,000 and the title being won by Ronnie O’Sullivan (2022).
