Yannick Sinner, the first Italian to reach the semi-finals of the Tournament of Champions

This year marks the 54th edition of the Champions Tour, and four Italians have so far qualified for the event, which gathers the best players of the ATP season, but Sinner was the first to reach the semi-finals. Adriano Panatta (1975), Corrado Barazzutti (1978) and Matteo Berrettini (2019 and 2021) stopped at the group stage.

Yannick, 22, won all three of his Green Group matches (against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Novak Djokovic and Holger Rohn) to reach 60 wins in 2023, the most for an Italian in a single season. The previous record belonged to Corrado Barazzutti (54 in 1978).

Roon’s win was Sinner’s 20th over ATP Top 10 players. The Italian won the last seven matches against the elite of world tennis.

Sinner took first place in the Green group and will play in the semi-finals against the player who took 2nd place in the Red group.

3. Holger Rune – 1 point (3:2)
