The decisive days in the preliminary matches before Euro-2024 are approaching, the situation in Romania’s group will become clearer in the next period. There is no peace for the favorites either, the Swiss press is ironic about the fate of its own selector: “It is necessary to save the soldier Yakin.”

Swiss coach Murat Yakin and the main role in “Saving Private Ryan”
The bluewin.ch website ironically launches on the eve of the crucial qualifiers for Euro 2024. Although Switzerland are undefeated (the same goes for the Romanian national team), Switzerland have limped along at times in this campaign.
Group favourites, Switzerland, are (yet) unsure of qualification, with the quoted source drawing a parallel between Saving Private Ryan (the 1998 film starring Tom Hanks) and the fate of coach Murai Yakin.
The headline “Soldier Yakin must be saved” appeared, which speaks of the urgent need for qualifications for the coach to remain on the technical bench of Switzerland.
The above ironic quote was “attributed” by the website bluewin.ch to the Swiss Football Association.
Murat Yakin was challenged several times, and a draw with Belarus (an impressive 3-3) only increased discontent.
One thing is clear: the coach will not be fired until the end of the previous match, regardless of Switzerland’s results.
The president of the Federation, Dominique Blanc, made it clear that there is no question of Yakin’s dismissal in the midst of the qualification.
On Wednesday, on Hungarian soil (in Felchut), Switzerland will play a match against Israel. It will be a very important match for the two selected teams as well as for Romania.
If the Swiss national team wins, Murat Yakin’s team will qualify for Euro 2024.
They will have 18 points, leaving Israel on 11, with two games left to play. That means the Swiss have secured at least second place in the group (one that leads to next summer’s final tournament).
Israel vs. Switzerland will be played on Wednesday, November 15 in Felchut, Hungary, kick-off at 9:45 p.m. and will be broadcast on HotNews.ro’s LiveBLOG.
