Chief engineer Mike Elliott has left the Mercedes team
Without a win in the first 19 races of the season, Toto Wolff said Elliott, 49, had made the decision to leave after 11 years at Mercedes.
“Mike has been one of the pillars of the team’s achievements over the last decade and it is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to him today. Mike is a highly intelligent technical brain and a great team player. He made a significant contribution not only to victories in car races, but also to the development of the culture of our team” – Toto Wolffhead of Mercedes.
With Elliott in the team, Mercedes won 8 world championship titles among constructors (2014-2022) and seven titles among pilots (2014-2021). He has been Head of Aerodynamics, Technical Director, and most recently, Chief Engineer of the Technical Group.
On the eve of the final races of this year (Sao Paulo, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi), Mercedes is in 2nd place in the constructors’ standings. Lewis Hamilton is 3rd in the driver standings and George Russell is 8th.
After 11 incredible years, Chief Technical Officer Mike Elliott has decided to leave the team.
Mike has been one of the pillars of the team’s achievements and we thank him for everything he has brought to the team.
We wish you the best of luck in your next chapter, Mike!
