Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers met on Saturday night in the group stage of the Hockey Challange Cup, but the game was marred by tragedy.

At the age of 29, Adam Johnson died on the field after a strange duel in the middle of the field. In front of more than 8,000 spectators, with 6 minutes left in the second half, Johnson got into a puck fight in the middle of the court, an opponent cut his throat with skates and started bleeding profusely.

He somehow managed to get to the technical bench, but due to heavy bleeding, he could no longer be saved.
