Andriy Rublev qualified for the 2023 Tournament of Champions
The Russian defeated Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi 7-5, 6-3 in the last 16 of the ATP tournament in Vienna on Thursday to book his place at the tournament in November.
“This is great news. I’m a little surprised. I didn’t know after the match that if I won the match I would definitely qualify, so I didn’t know that and it’s a great feeling, great news. I’m looking forward to the tournament and I’m happy to play on the Champions Tour for another year,” said Rublev, Eurosport reports.
So far, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Yannick Sinner have all been assured of qualifying for this year’s Champions League.
The battle for the bottom three places is tight and there could be surprises before the end of the season.
This year’s Tournament of Champions will be held in Turin from November 12 to 19.
This year, the Italian organizers will offer record prizes, and if there is a winner of the tournament who wins all the games (group three, semi-finals and final – a total of five games), he will go home with a check for $4,801. 500.
