Micah Richards (35), a first-team player for Manchester City for 8 years, told an anecdote from his career when he was coached by Manuel Pellegrini.
The former England defender told a podcast how he drank 10 beers the night before a game he didn’t think he would play in, only to be asked by the manager if he felt ready to replace an injured player.
“If I’ve just come back from injury, I definitely won’t be playing. I can have a beer. One became two, two became three, and before I knew it, I drank ten!” Richards reported.
In the end, Richards avoided the hangover by telling the trainer that he was not fully recovered from the injury. The medical staff supported him in his endeavors.
