Karolina Muhova (Roland Garros finalist this season) announced on Tuesday that she has to withdraw from the 2023 Champions Tour. The athlete from the Czech Republic (ranked 8 in the world) says she has not recovered from a wrist injury.
Karolina Mukhova was replaced by Maria Sakkari at the 2023 Tournament of Champions
In a post on her personal Instagram account, Carolina says she did everything possible with her team and doctors to be able to play in Cancun.
However, the time for a full recovery was too long, and Mukhova had to quit her studies.
Instead of the finalist of Roland Garros-2023, the Greek Maria Sakkari will play.
The 2023 Tournament of Champions takes place from October 29 to November 5 on hard court in Cancun, Mexico. It has a total prize pool of $9,000,000 and will feature eight of the world’s best players.
Aryna Sabalenko, Iga Svyatek, Coco Gauff, Olena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Ons Jaber, Marketa Vondrousova and Maria Sakkari will compete for the big trophy.
The 2022 champion (Caroline Garcia) did not qualify.
