It took Johann Zarco 120 races to take his first MotoGP victory. The Frenchman won the Australian Grand Prix, and the podium was completed by Francesco Bagnaia (leader of the general standings) and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Johann has waited almost seven years to enjoy a victory like he did in Moto2 (he was world champion in 2015 and 2016). At the age of 33, Zarko climbed the fence and made a spectacular jump.

“It’s a nice feeling, it’s hard to believe. After so many races that I finally won, I have to live in the moment. I want to cry, but not now” – Johann Zarko.

Jorge Martin, Zarco’s teammate at Pramac Racing, led the race until the last lap, but lost control at the end of the race and missed the podium (finishing 5th). The Spaniard (2nd overall) remains 27 points behind the leader Banyai.
