Bob Skinstad says New Zealand will reach grand final – South Africa v England tight match
The days to decide the finalists for the Rugby World Cup in France are fast approaching and Bob Skinstad (former South Africa captain) has previewed the two matches that will take place on 20 and 21 October at the Stade de France.
Firstly, Bob believes that Argentina will not have the strength to upset a strong rugby team like New Zealand.
Speaking about the national team he has captained and played for for a decade, Skinstad believes South Africa will face a tough match against an England side that has not impressed at this World Cup but has managed to improve from match to match.
“I’ve been incredibly lucky to witness two fantastic quarter-finals (Ireland v New Zealand and France v South Africa). Those were probably the two best rugby matches I’ve ever seen in my life.
I thought Ireland v New Zealand was impossible to beat (no, spectacularly) and then there was South Africa v France which almost made it.
But they won’t win the semifinals in the quarterfinals. And I think the Springboks probably realize that.
So, England have yet to lose at this World Cup. She continues to develop and gets better from match to match.
South Africa will be very wary of them and the semi-final will be a game where the final outcome is difficult to predict.
I think, however, that South Africa will prepare very well for this match, and England will play on the waiting list” – Bobby Skinstad.
Throughout history, England and South Africa have crossed paths on various occasions 42 times. 15 victories for the British, 25 for South Africa and two draws.
South Africa’s most decisive victory was in 2007 in Bloemfontein with a score of 58-10.
On the other hand, England boast a record of 53-3 at Twickenham in 2002.
In total, South Africa scored 887 runs (an average of 21 per match) while England scored 717 runs (an average of 17 per match).
At the Rugby World Cup we count only one win for England and four for South Africa.
Who is Bobby Skinstead?
47-year-old Bobby Skinstad is a former rugby player (1.93 meters / 105 kg). From 1997 to 2007, he played for South Africa, even captaining the team.
