Chinese Xinyu Wang and Brazilian Beatrice Haddad Maia, the two big favorites of the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong, were eliminated at the round of 16 stage.

After the main favorite and the untitled champion, it was the turn of two more important names to leave the tournament in Hong Kong.

Second seed Beatrice Haddad Maia (20 WTA) was defeated in three sets by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (61 WTA) 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.

And Xinyu Wang (32 WTA) stopped in the 1/8 finals, defeating Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo (57 WTA), score 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

The Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2023 takes place from October 9 to 15 on hard, is part of the WTA 250 category, has a total prize pool of $259,303, and is crowned by Diana Yastremska (in 2018).
