Champion Lucian Bute, support of Simona Halep: “Let her be strong, give concrete evidence”

In 2016, Bute tested positive for ostarine, but after a 6-month suspension, he was able to prove his innocence.

His lawyers argued that the supplements he was using were contaminated, and further tests confirmed it.

The former boxer does not believe that there was anything intentional in the case of Simona Halep and considers it a matter of contamination, as in his situation.

“I also read about this case in the press. I feel very sorry for Simon. We met here in Montreal when he played in the Rogers Cup. I went to the arena, supported her, saw each other later. As far as I know, I think it was an accident.

I think this supplement was contaminated. I don’t want to believe that she did it on purpose. I don’t think he did. In my case it was confirmed, but there was wasted time, lawyers, money and stress…

I proved it was an accident and they lifted the suspension after 6 months. In her case, we are talking about 4 years.” – said Lucian Butein an interview with Gazeta Sporturilor.

Lucian Bute also wanted to send a message of support to the former world leader.

“Be strong, be confident and with God’s help prove that it was an accident. I hope he will provide concrete evidence and his sentence will be reduced.

Get out on the field sooner, because otherwise it will be very difficult for him. After two years of waiting, it is almost impossible to return to a high level”, – believes the former world champion.
