The Australian started the match decisively, led 3:0 and, despite opposition from Murray, won the first set.

The second set was even, but the Briton was more specific at the end when he managed to avoid a tiebreak.

Crucial was the fiery. The former Grand Slam winner led 5-2, missed two match points and the set went to a tie-break, where De Minaur won 8-6 after another missed match point by the Briton.

The game lasted two hours and 53 minutes.

In the second round, Alex De Minaur will meet the winner of the tournament Tommy Paul (13 ATP) and Daniil Medvedev (3 ATP).
