The Romanian Cycling Federation has announced that the Tour of Romania will no longer be held in 2023, with the event postponed to next year.
Being “unable to continue organizing and contracting the necessary suppliers in a timely manner”, FR Ciclism announces the postponement of the event to 2024.
“Due to the desire to continue the tradition of the Tour of Romania and ensure its natural continuity, we postponed this decision until the last possible moment, during which numerous efforts were made to resolve the situation.
However, the short period remaining before the new start date of the event does not allow us to continue the organization and timely conclusion of contracts with the necessary suppliers.
We would like to express our gratitude to the main partner Auchan Romania and all sponsors for the support provided this year for the realization of the Tour of Romania, related to the part of private financing.
We also thank the National Sports Agency for the openness shown and the institutional efforts made to support us.
We are convinced that all parties involved were inspired by good intentions and that we will come together in the shortest possible time to organize the Tour of Romania 2024 at the highest standards” – Cycling Federation of Romaniaquoted by News.ro.
The Cycling Tour of Romania was scheduled to take place on October 18-20, 2023.
